Payment Terms – A deposit of 1/2 of the cost of the tour is due at the time of booking. The balance is due 3 months prior to departure. Group participants may be added or dropped (within 14 and 22) up until one month prior to departure. Third party hotels/motels, events and activities may have additional capacity and cancellation policies.
Cancelations – A 10% cancelation fee will be charged on all cancelations. If a cancelation is made within 90 days of the departure the full 50% deposit will be forfeited.
Tips – Tipping the crew for exceptional service is certainly encouraged. When any events, activities, and restaurant meals are included in the tours package price we also pay the 15% gratuity. If you feel that exceptional service warrants a larger tip then you may provide an additional gratuity directly to the third party. If an event, activity, or meal is organized by Unusual Tour, but paid for by the guests, then gratuities will be the responsibility of the guest.
What is not included?
Bicycle – We cater to groups of riders who would rather ride their own bikes. If you need to rent a bike we will work with you rent one from a shop in Portland.
Personal Riding Gear – Weather conditions may vary greatly over the course of your tour. You can be riding in triple digit heat at the beginning of the week and in a forty degree rain storm before the week is up – even in August! Each rider should be prepared for a variety of weather conditions. We require all riders to wear a helmet at all times while riding on our tours.
Personal Camping Gear – The standard accommodation is camping. You will need to provide your own tent, sleeping bag, sleeping pad/air mattress, and pillow along with anything else you might need to make your camping experience more comfortable. Suggested personal clothing is also included on the detailed gear list.
Outside Meals - Sometimes it is more convenient, or more desirable, for guests to be free to choose a restaurant meal themselves instead of eating with the group. These meals will not be included in the package and the tour itinerary will explicitly say so. Restaurant meals consumed while traveling to/from our destination are also not included.
If the group chooses to have a meal at a restaurant once underway, the cost of the meal can be added to their incidentals account. It is not uncommon for groups to eat at restaurants several times during a week’s tour. No credits are provided for camp meals not eaten.
Incidental Costs - Incidental costs accumulated while on the tour will be billed to the group coordinator for payment in full. The group is responsible for distribution of incidental costs amongst themselves.
Share the Wealth - As we pass through the small towns along our route it is often desirable to "stop and check it out." We encourage our guests to "leave some of their money behind" in the local shops. These small towns have a tough time surviving these days and your business is greatly appreciated.
